An Essential Visit When in Nieu Bethesda
The First People Centre recently opened an exquisite gem, the Bushman Heritage Museum, as part of their small complex in Nieu Bethesda. Located in two simple but elegant rooms, one is confronted with the history of a conscious plan to exterminate the Xan Bush Men and Women. After one learns the heart-wrenching stories of the Xan having been hunted like wild animals, one feels a sense of hope and redemption when learning that a couple of brave souls created the only written records of their language thus saving the Xan legends now translated into large exquisitely done contemporary tapestries. This a site not so be missed– you will not be the same afterwards!
